Dwarka- Karwa Chauth celebrations from CCRT grounds

Karwa Chauth celebrations saw zealous participation and excitement in the community from all across the sub-city. Amidst the Swadeshi mela that is also being organized at the CCRT ground, a Karwa Chauth celebration was also organized for the families of the organisers.

The community prayer for the participants started at 4 pm. The ladies gathered on the stage at the mela where the rituals took place. As the females of the organising committee were occupied with work on the ground, the organisers decided to arrange for a small puja function for the females.

All the ladies appeared in beautiful traditional attire for the event. Most of them ditched their everyday style for a bold festive look. They sported lehengas, sarees and heavy suits.

Firstly, the ladies heard the story of Karwa Chauth (Katha). Then he gradually moved on to the importance of fasting and detailed rituals for the benefit of the human being. A screen was also arranged on the right-hand side of the stage for a clearer and closer view of the rituals which were being performed on the stage.

After the prayers, Anita Gupta, Dr Poonam, and Rashmi Gaur from Dwarka made everyone play dandiya. Madhu Raj, a resident of Dwarka and an organizing committee member of Swadeshi mela says, “It is an amazing experience to be a part of the Karwa Chauth celebration here. Festivals always feel more special with friends and neighbours."

By evening, emerging artists from Delhi NCR took to the stage. Vanya Singh, a student of Nrityanjali Sai foundation, a cultural association in Delhi and a resident of Dwarka says, “I am enjoying all the cultural performances. I am also excited for my performance on 'Mere dholna' and thunga thunga composed by Pandit Birju Maharaj”.
