The occasion of Chhath Puja is here and the devotees across Delhi NCR are excited to celebrate it in full swing, especially after two years of restricted celebration. In many parts of Delhi NCR, preparations for the Chhath celebration are under way. As today marks the first day of the four day festival of Chhath, also called Nhai Khai, here are some do's and don'ts you should keep in mind while carrying out the rituals.
The preparations for Chhath Puja begin the day after Diwali when devotees begin to eat only Satvik food. On Nahayi Khai, the first day of Chhath, a fast is observed. The day usually begins by cleaning every nook and cranny of the your home. During the entirety of the event, cleanliness and hygiene should be observed at all times.
The devotees should bathe first thing in the morning before eating anything. Following that, orange vermillion is put on, and then the preparations for prasad begin.
It is imperative that every component that goes into the preparation of food, including rice, beans, and vegetables, be either freshly acquired or meticulously cleansed and that these components should not be mixed with anything that has been consumed previously or handled with unclean hands.
To prepare the prasad, rock salt is required. The meal that is cooked is completely sattvik, and no onion nor garlic is utilised in the preparation of it.
Following the breaking of the fast and the offering of the prasad to the God Sun and Chatthi Maiya, the prasad is first consumed by the individual who is fasting and then distributed to the other members of the household.
It is considered fortunate to worship Chhathi Mata from within a snoop that is brimming with prasad, as well as to present milk and water as offerings to the god Surya.
Keep in mind that you are required to listen to the vrat Katha every night of the celebration.
