Who's been abandoning vehicles in the Jaipuria Sunrise Greens basement?

For several years now, the basement parking of Jaipuria Sunrise Greens in Ahinsa Khand 1, Indirapuram, has been home to a number of dusty abandoned cars and two-wheelers.

Members of the society's AOA find it quite fishy and suspect it to be the work of criminals.

"Some of the vehicles have been parked here since 2010," said Ravindra Saini, president of Sunrise Greens AOA. "It came to our notice only six months back, post which we started investigating the matter. We have identified at least 50 such vehicles."

Rajkumar Sharma, manager of the society's AOA, told City Spidey that the maintenance office had failed to find their owners within the society. “We leave a note on the wind shield of such cars, asking the owner to contact the maintenance office. No one has claimed these vehicles since the past six months.”

"What's even more strange, is that every time we paste a note on the cars, some one removes them and cleans the car to make it appear as if they are being used regularly," said Sharma. "We have found around 12 cars and 30 two-wheelers parked in the basement. We have also checked the licence plates number online and some of them did not match the make and the manufacturer of the vehicles."

Residents had raised the issue at a recent meeting with the police. Police officials suspected the society’s parking area was being used as a dumpyard of stolen vehicles.

On being contacted, Babbar Raza Zaidi, SHO Indirapuram police station, said, "We need to investigate the matter before we confirm anything about the old vehicles."

However, Alok Kumar, founder of FedAoA, the apex body of societies, said it's been a while since the society’s AOA has provided all information to the police. “We are quite certain that the vehicles are stolen and parked in the society's basement to hide them from police,” said Kumar.
