Currency ban brings year-end travel to a halt

As with everything else, demonetisation has expectedly put brakes on year-end winter travel. City Spidey does a round of Noida to find out how residents are coping with not-so-happy change of plans.

Says Shailendra Barnwal, a resident of Supertech Capetown in Sector 74, "We had been planning a vacation for a long time. We really wanted to get away from the city rush. But thanks to demonetisation, our plans have been pretty much derailed. The current situation is too risky for a holiday. We had hoped that the situation would improve before Christmas, but that seems unlikely now."

Suraj Bharghava of Sector 15 had been planning a holiday in Goa with friends, but now most of them have backed out owing to the currency ban. He says, "Don't think have enough cash for a trip. We can't just rely on Paytm or cards!"
