Noida residents riled over alleged supply hard water

Noida: Residents of several sectors across Noida have been complaining about the High TDS water supply allegedly 1000 ppm for some time now. They allege that even after several complaints with the authorities, they're still getting the same hard water supply. They now demand a water supply of less than 800 ppm TDS.

The residents allege that water with high TDS ranging between 1000 and 2000 ppm is being provided to different sectors. A few days ago, Noida Authority shared a tweet announcing that Ganga water is being mixed into the water supply of Noida in ample quantity to provide a softer water supply to the residents across the city. However, residents allege that the TDS of water is still high.

Sanjeev Kumar, General Secretary of the RWA of Noida Sector 51, says, "After regular follow-ups on social media and complaints, we still await a solution. When I checked the TDS level of the water today, on November 9, 2022, through my own TDS meter, it was 1080 ppm. The Authority supplied Ganga water to this line only to silence the voice of the residents on the water issue but the water is still unsuitable for drinking."

He also adds that he will continue protesting and raising the issue until the Authority and Water department start working honestly and sincerely on the issue.

Pushkar Chandna, a resident of Lotus Panache Sector 110 Noida, says, "I've been measuring the TDS level of water regularly for some months with my own TDS meter, and it's very high. The TDS was 2390 ppm on November 1, 2022. On November 4, 2022, I contacted an official from the water department who stated that a softer water supply would begin the next day, but the water supply I got had TDS level of 2430 on November 5, 2022 too."

He also alleges that the authorities assured the residents of a softer water supply with a lower TDS level by November 8, 2022. However, today is November 9, 2022, and the TDS level of water supply was 1850 when he checked.

Gaurav Ojha, a resident of Sikka Karmic Greens, Sector-78, Noida says, "The water supply we got today, on November 9 had a TDS level of 1090 ppm. I am also providing the proof for the same as I checked it with my own TDS meter. All we want is a supply of soft water. The authorities have done nothing even after so many complaints. I hope that we will get a water supply with a TDS level lower than 800 PPM soon."

CitySpidey reached out to Avinash Tripathi, Officer on Special Duty, Noida Authority, Water Department for a comment on the matter. He said, "The Gangajal mixing process began around November 4, 2022. The TDS level is now lower as compared to before as now, it ranges between 1000-1200 ppm and it will go down further. Societies which are facing such problems can connect with us directly. The water TDS meters residents are using are poorly calibrated and do not show specific readings."
