Fire at Chandni Chowk's Bhagirat Palace, 50 shops gutted

A massive fire was reported in the wholesale lights market Bhagirat Palace on the night of November 24, 2022. Although no casualties have been reported, over 50 shops have been destroyed in the fire. Around 150 firefighters were brought in to extinguish the fire. It took nearly 12 hours to put it out and a cooling operation is still underway.

Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg mentioned that a major part of the building has been damaged and officials are using remote control fire fighting machines to douse the flames.

According to the fire fighting department, they received information around 9:20 pm. As gathered, the narrow lanes of Chandni chowk made it difficult for them to reach the spot.

A video of the incident that is going viral shows the flames spreading dangerously around the Bhagirat palace.
