To ensure speedier action, Dial 100 project is launched in Noida, which will transfer a distress call to a Lucknow centre, from where it will be directed to the concerned police station, and a Dial 100 vehicle will set off for the spot.

In a bid to streamline the process of registering complaints and ensuring prompt action, Dial 100 project was launched in Noida at the SSP office in Sector 14 A on December 15.

About 40,000 Gautam Budh Nagar locations have been mapped, and 37 Dial 100 vehicles launched.

Ajay Anand, IG (Meerut) explained to City Spidey, "When a person now dials 100, the call is immediately directed to the Dial 100 centre in Lucknow. It is received by trained women police personnel at the centre, who transfers the call to the concerned police station in Gautam Budh Nagar. We want to ensure that every FIR gets formally registered."

A Dial 100 vehicle then sets off for the spot.

Dharmedra Yadav, Gautam Budh Nagar SSP, said, "We have  27 Toyota Innovas and the rest are Mahindra Bolero jeeps. They should be able to reach an urban location within 15 minutes and a rural spot in 20 minutes."
