Regarding the most searched celebrities, the past year has not been subtle at all. A lot of things made headlines in 2022. Be it Will Smith slapping Chris Rock in Oscars, the famous divorce trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and much more, there was a lot to talk about in 2022. These are some of the most widely searched celebrities of 2022-

Johnny Depp

Due to the Depp v. Heard trial, Johnny Depp became the most-searched celebrity of 2022, with the majority of social media responses  sympathising with Depp and criticising his ex-wife, Amber Heard. While the jury determined that Heard's claims of "sexual violence" and  "domestic abuse" in her 2018 op-ed were false and defamed Depp, it also determined that Heard's counterclaim caused some defamation.

The Depp v. Heard trial was a global event of 2022 of sorts, putting Amber  Heard, 36, and Johnny Depp, 59, in the spotlight from April to June. Following an intense trial between the formerly married couple, the jury found both actors liable for defamation, leaving Heard owing Depp more than $8 million. A large number of people around the world watched the trial, and there was a significant social media backlash  against Heard over her allegations and court cases.

Will Smith stunned Hollywood and the rest of the world by slapping comedian Chris Rock during the Academy Awards ceremony. Rock made a  joke about Smith's wife Jada's baldness, which irritated the Men in Black actor. The duo had hits  like 'Why Not Me' and 'Mama He's Crazy'. They were inducted into the  Country Music Hall of Fame just one day before Naomi died.
