The RWA of Sector 31, Noida, is stepping up to help the needy this winter. It has decided to donate residents' unused winter clothes to the underprivileged to help them cope with the bitter Delhi winter.

To collect these clothes, the sector's maids, drivers, car cleaners and security guards can head to a vacant spot near Gate No 2, where the woollens have been hung. A security guard has been assigned to keep an eye on the clothes.

Sunil Sethi, RWA president, told City Spidey that about 100 people have so far benefited from the initiative and about 1,000 clothes have been donated by the residents. “The drive was started initially for maids and drivers who work in the sector. But soon people from Nithari village and other nearby areas started turning up,” he said.

“Residents can also call RWA officials to have their old and unused clothes picked up by security guards from their flats,” Sethi added.

“I gave a jacket, a sweater, two jeans and three T-shirts to the poor,” said Rahul Verma, a resident of the sector.

Kaustubh Aggarwal, another resident of the sector, said it is a great initiative by the RWA. "People usually throw away clothes they don't need. But the RWA has done a great job by drawing residents' attention to how each one of us can make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged," Aggarwal added.
