Classic Christmas movies to binge on

One of the best parts of Christmas festivities is winding up in a warm blanket and putting on the classic Christmas movies. No holiday season is complete without a movie marathon and even though there are new releases set for this Christmas, they simply can't match the magic of some classic Christmas movies that have been with people for quite some time now.

Christmas in Connecticut (1945)

It is simply a classic with a mildly plausible plot but carried off with such conviction on the part of the actors that it transports you to a world where minor miracles happen at Christmas, and we're all for it. With an ensemble caste and made with true Christmas spirit, this is a must-watch for your late nights.

White Christmas (1954)

This 1954 musical is about entertainers who want to spread the holiday spirit to save a failing Vermont inn. The cast includes that era's favorites, including Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera-Ellen, and Dean Jagger. Furthermore, the film introduced a slew of catchy sing-along songs to the world, including "The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing" and "What Can You Do With a General?" Not to mention, the film is credited with helping to make the song "White Christmas" as well-known as it is today.

Home Alone (1990)

What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said? 'Home Alone', one of the most well-known Christmas films of all time, is a quintessential film that combines a lot of family fun with an engaging storey, memorable characters, and touching moments.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

This is the fourth Muppet movie, but it is the first to be released by Disney. In addition, it is the first film to be released following Jim Henson's death. This is a Muppet-style retelling of Charles Dickens' 1843 novella 'A Christmas Carol'. The Muppet films that follow this one also tells a classic story through the eyes of the Muppets. This is the best of the bunch. This is a must-see for everyone, and it brings out every Christmas to watch it again. A timeless classic for the entire family.

Jingle All the Way (1996)

Directed by Brian Levant, Jingle All the Way is a Christmas family comedy. It is a fun Christmas film to watch with its warm and feel-good vibe. With its materialistic ideology, much of the film is relatable to you as a child; the whole idea that a child cares about Christmas as a plastic toy seemed normal.

The Polar Express (2004)

Tom Hanks and director Robert Zemeckis ("Forrest Gump," "Cast Away") reunited for 'Polar Express', an uplifting adventure based on Chris Van Allsburg's beloved children's book. When a young boy who is skeptical of life embarks on an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that demonstrates that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

The Holiday (2006)

Two girls from different countries swap homes for the holidays to get away from their relationship problems. Their lives, however, take an unexpected turn when they meet and fall in love with two local guys.

A Christmas Carol (2009)

Though London awaits the joyous arrival of Christmas, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) thinks it's all a waste of time, berating his faithful clerk and cheerful nephew for their point of view. Later, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his late business partner, who warns him that three spirits will visit him tonight. The ghosts transport Scrooge to his past, present, and future in the hope of transforming his bitterness.
