Pelé, the 'black pearl' leaves for heavenly abode

A conversation about the greatest players of football can't end without the mention of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly called Pelé. Born and brought up in Três Corações, Minas Gerais, Brazil to a footballer father, football was always an intrinsic part of him. Through his love for the game, dedication, commitment and hard work, he went on to become not one of the greatest, but arguably the greatest soccer player of all times.

While it was a matter of mistake and mispronunciation that the legend got the name 'Pelé', it perhaps suited him the best. The name means 'miracle' in Hebrew after all. Only a few can achieve in their lifetime what Pelé did in his career. If their was any term surpassing the superlatives of the greatest, best and legendary, there's no doubt he would have owned it too. With three football world cups to his credit, the man was named 'the greatest' by FIFA itself.

On Thursday, December 29, 2022, Pelé took his last breaths in Sao Paulo. Now that the man has left for heavenly abode, what is left behind is his glorious legacy. He once again has brought the world together, as his fans across globe mourn such great loss.
