Hard Cash Day 41: Gurgaon CIA seizes over 15 lakh in new notes

The CIA branch of Gurgaon police seized Rs 15,33,600 in new notes from two vehicles on the Delhi-Jaipur highway near Bilaspur village on December 19. The stash included notes of Rs 2,000, Rs 100 and Rs 50.

The police had information from sources that two persons involved in converting old notes of black money into new were travelling from the Rewari side.

Upon receiving the information, the police immediately cordoned off the area and caught the accused. The police then informed income tax officials.

Gurgaon police spokesperson, Manish Sehgal, said, "We had information that two persons, in two separate vehicles, were crossing Bilaspur village near the old toll plaza. Right now, we are investigating the incident. We have informed income tax officials and will register a case against the accused after we receive the IT department report."

Residents of Gurgaon have reacted sharply to such incidents of hoarding.

Rajendra Singh, resident of Sector 56, said, "The situation has really spiralled out of control. The government should take harsh steps against dishonest bank officials who are supplying money to the touts."

Echoing similar sentiments, Harsh Aggarwal of Ardee City said, "Corrupt officials responsible for supplying the common man's money to the hoarders must be penalised. The government must take strict action to stop such officials."
