In the city, the areas along Trunk Drain 2 and 5 are being developed as tourist and picnic spots where the work is going on rapidly and it can be seen in Sector 13 near Metro View Apartments.

Officials at the construction sites said, a total 9.51 kilometre stretch is being developed and beautified for the purpose. The estimated cost to be incurred on the project is Rs 240 crore and it has to be completed before the G-20 Summit in Delhi.

Along the drains, development of cycle track, walking track and water front is being done and at some places, the work has been completed. Along the tracks and water fronts hut kiosks are also being constructed where people can sit and enjoy the nature having foods.

Officials shared that at 10 places the water fronts are being developed in which the water of the drains would be used after proper treatment. Also, in such water front people could enjoy boating in the drain too.

People are happy with such new project in the area. Rakesh Sharma, a resident of Metro View Apartments, says, “I am thrilled to use the facilities being developed. The tracks are along our boundary wall and the kiosks and picnic spots are few metres away from us. I am happy and thankful to the authorities.”
