Hard Cash Day 43: Arrears down by 28 per cent for PVVNL

For Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), Noida's power supplier, demonetisation has resulted in a huge windfall in the form of arrears.

Ever since the currency ban came into effect on November 8, the discom witnessed a clearance of 28 per cent of arrears, translating into a sum of Rs 35 crore.

However, the total arrears still stands at a whopping Rs 125 crore.

As expected, demonetisation prompted consumers to clear up the dues in the banned notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. There were even consumers who had dues to the tune of Rs 4,00,000.

However, Mukul Singhal, the chief engineer of PVVNL, told City Spidey that he wasn't too pleased with the entire collection, as only 28 per cent of the arrears were cleared.
