Dwarka to get sports complex from MCD

Dwarka: There is good news for the people of Dwarka as the city is going to have a new sports complex. The sports complex is in planning to be developed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in Sector 19. According to sources, the concept of the project has been given permission and now the formal approval would be done after the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and the start of the working of MCD formally.

According to officials, the complex will be developed in Sector 19 on an area of the care of MCD land and it will be completed six months after the start of the project.

Facilities like boxing, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, football, athletics, etc would be there at the complex which one could avail of being a member.

This would be the first sports complex by MCD in Dwarka. The city is having one operational sports complex of DDA Sector 11 while one more complex is under construction by DDA at Sector 17. There is planning for sports complexes at Sector 8 and Sector 19 also by DDA. Apart from that the DDA is making a golf course in Dwarka.

Newly elected councilor of Dwarka B, MCD, Kamaljeet Sehrawat says, “ MCD has its own part to play in the development of Dwarka. DDA is running sports complexes but those are not accessible for all due to different socioeconomic statuses. MCD has planned in such a way that people from different socioeconomic backgrounds could also be available to the facilities if the membership or the fee for the complex would be fixed reasonably. We will serve the community from colonies and villages as well. We want to provide maximum such facilities to the people in societies and also in the surrounding colonies.”

Sports enthusiasts of the city expressed their views on the concept. Jagdeep Singh from Sector 3 said that the complex would fill the demand of the community facing a crisis of spaces to play. Indrajeet Vishwas from Sector 13 said that there must be good facilities for team games as such games must be promoted in the city.
