For most daily commuters, stepping out of home and finding an auto waiting is a dream come true. But can it become too much of a good thing?
Ask the residents of Patel Nagar, Ghaziabad.
Getting through the Patel Nagar main gate has become a nightmare for locals as autos crowd the entrance 24x7.
“These autos were introduced by Nagar Nigam to facilitate public transport in and around Patel Nagar. We never thought it would cause so much inconvenience. It is difficult to navigate the area even on foot with the drivers parking where they please. When we tried reasoning with them, they behaved rudely with us. We have voiced our concern to the administration and Nagar Nigam. However, nothing concrete has been done so far,” says Pramod Sharma, RWA President of Patel Nagar.
Ghaziabad Commissioner, Abdul Samad, says, “We will need to keep tabs on the autos that don't park at the designated spots. However, space is a constraint and there is no area nearby to accommodate so many of them."
City Spidey hopes authorities figure out a solution for this soon. It isn't a pretty picture in Patel Nagar.
