Sec 61, Noida: That's Ganga jal you see flooding the road

A damaged Ganga water supply pipeline has caused the area in front of State Bank of India in Sector 61, Noida, to be inundated for the past four days. The pipeline was damaged during the construction of an elevated road in the area.

Residents of the sector said the leaking pipeline had affected water supply to their homes. The road is flooded with water, making it tough for pedestrians to commute on the stretch. "It is high time Noida Authority found a permanent solution to this problem," said Saket Sharma, a resident of Sector 61, Noida. "Construction of the road has been going on for some time and the pipeline was damaged two months back as well."

When Virendra Singh, RWA president of Sector 61, found out about the issue, he informed Authority officials but nothing was done about it. "Water is supplied in two shifts, morning and evening, between 7 and 8," added Singh. "And we are facing water shortage in both shifts."

SK Srivastav, section officer of Noida Jal Nigam, told City Spidey that he was aware of the issue and that the problem would be attended to on January 4.
