Autorickshaws return to ‘illegal’ stand near Noida City Centre Metro station

Two days after residents of Sector 50, Noida, protested against an auto rickshaw stand near a busy U-turn beside Noida City Centre Metro station, auto drivers have returned to the spot.

Vimar Sharma, president of Sector 50 RWA, along with other residents of his sector, had protested against the stand, calling it illegal. They had also put up banners that said defaulters would have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000. But it seems the protest hardly had an impact.

Sharma said, “There are bad traffic jams created by these autorickshaws. They park on the main road to pick up passengers and end up blocking the road. There is hardly any space left for commuters.”

“There is a legal auto stand opposite the U-turn but auto drivers don’t seem to care,” Sharma added.

When City Spidey contacted Vipin Raghav, traffic sub-inspector, he said he would initiate action against these drivers. “They need to follow rules or be pensalised,” Raghav added.
