Barfi is a legendary sweet from Indian subcontinent and it is often described as a passionate longing that allure us with it gracious looks and awesome taste. The name Barfi or Burfi originated from a Persian and Urdu word ‘Barf’ or snow. It was long back that the sweet was invented in the subcontinent and it is equally famous in our neighbourhood country Pakistan. Most interestingly it has variation in taste and shape and it can be made with a variety of ingredients which are easily available. We may prepare our much-loved Barfi at home with little efforts following our favourite savour and aroma. Yes this has perhaps made Barfi a unique sweet that everyone may select the perfect Barfi following own choices.It may sound fascinating that we have lots of choices of ingredients while preparing Barfi. Let’s discuss about some of the most favourites Barfis here:

Kaju Barfi

Kaju Barfi is famously called Kaju Katli and one of the most famed Indian sweets all over the world. With mouth-watering taste it is and internationally famous Indian Barfi that has made us proud. It can be made very easily with khoya, cashew nuts sugar syrup and ghee. Take two cups of cashew nuts and blend it finely so that it becomes powder. Take a pan and add ½ cup of ghee then add the cashew powder. Keep stirring and then add sugar syrup in right proportion and ½ cup khoya Keep stirring until it all melt properly and turn into a thick sticky paste. Take a butter paper and it with ghee and put the sticky paste onto it and spread with hands. Let it cool down for some time and when it gets little stiff then cut it into Barfi shape and serve.

Coconut Barfi

Coconut Barfi or Nariyel ki Barf is another famous Barfi variety. It can also be made very easily at home without hard efforts. Grated coconut, ghee, powdered sugar, milkmaid, cardamom powder are the ingredients to make delectable Coconut Barfi. Grind grated coconut into a perfect blend. Add some ghee in a pan and add the blend in it. Keep stirring and add powdered sugar or sugar syrup and milkmaid and cardamom powder. Mix until it becomes sticky paste. Take a butter paper and grease with little ghee and keep the mixture on it. Let it cool down for half an hour and the cut it into thick square pieces and serve.

Besan Barfi

Beasn ki Barfi is another delectable item that you will find during every festival and occasions in India. Only a few ingredients like besan or gram flour, ghee, sugar syrup and nuts or peanuts are required to make this .Take a pan and add ghee in it. Add besan and keep stirring until the colour turns light brown. Then add some sugar syrup, nuts and some more amount of ghee. Keep stirring until all melts and turn into a thick sticky mixture. Take a butter paper and grease it with oil or ghee and spread the mixture in it and let cool and dry for some time. Then cut the pieces in Barfi shape and serve.

Moong Barfi

Moong Barfi is another delicious item that a you can relish anytime with your family and friends .This is also very easy to make. Powdered moong, Sugar, ghee and peanuts are required to prepare this one. Add good amount of ghee in a pan and add powdered moong in it. Mix it well until it becomes light brown. Then pour some more ghee into the pan and add sugar syrup and peanuts. Add little amount of water to mix it well and then spared the mixture onto a greased butter paper. Let  it  cool down and get  more sticky. Cut into your favourite shape and serve.

Badam or Almond Barfi

Almond is very rich in taste and it is very easy to make your favourite Barfi with almonds. Ingredients will be, Almonds, Milk, khoya and Sugar only. Take a pan and add ghee in to it and add powdered almond in the pan, stir it for some time and add milk and khoya and sugar altogether and keep mixing. Then add some chopped almonds and make it a thick mix. Then spread the mix on a greased butter paper and spread it with hands. Cut it into thick cubes after it cools down.

Pista Barfi

Just like Almond Barfi, Pista Barfi is also very much scrumptious item and it is also a favourite among all. Ingredients will be, pista, Milk, khoya and Sugar only. Take a pan and add ghee in to it and add blended pista in the pan, stir it for some time and add milk and some amount of condensed milk and sugar altogether and keep mixing. Then add some chopped pista and cashew and make it a thick mix. Then spread the mix on a greased butter paper and spread it with hands. Cut it into thick cubes and your favourite Pista Barfi is ready.

Sattu Peanut Barfi

Sattu is very healthy food and it can be used to make healthy dishes. Along with health it provides taste also. We can make Very tasty Sattu Barfi at home easily. Sattu, Khoya, Peanuts, ghee and powdered sugar are the ingredients. Roast the sattu well with ghee and the colour should turn into light brown. Then mix more ghee to the mix and add khoya , sugar, and chopped peanuts in it. Stir for some time and spread it on the greased butter paper. Let it cool down and cut  into cubes .Enjoy  Sattu Barfi .

Lauki Ki Barfi

Lauki is all-time favourite with Indians and very tasty ingredients for various dishes .You will be surprised to know that lauki can make delicious Barfis too. Grated Lauki, Sugar, ghee and khoya will be required to prepare this Barfi. Add good amount of ghee in a pan and add grated laukii into it. Then stir it till time the water in lauki gets dried. Then add some sugar and khoya into it stir for  some more time and then spread th e mixture on a greased butter paper.

Milk Barfi

The most favoured one among the varieties of Barfi is Milk Barfi which is often called as Kalakand. Pure milk, Khoya, Sugar, and nuts are required to make this luscious Barfi. Take a pan add some ghee and the pour milk, khoya, sugar and nuts altogether and keep stirring it. It will turn into a thick mixture and keep stirring until it gets dries almost. Lots of layers will come and that will make the mixture thicker and tastier. Spread the mixture on a greased butter paper and let it cool down for some time. Let  it  get  stiff and then cut  into cubes  and serve.

Faldhari Mawa Barfi (Sugar free)

Faldhari Mawa Barfi is a very healthy option for those who prefer to go for sugar free sweets. You need to take some amount of paneer, fruits, khoya, nuts  and ghee to make this item. Take a pan aand add ghee in it then mingle mashed paneer, mawa and nuts in it mix them well and cook on a medium flame. Then add mixed nuts, chopped fruits, elaichi powder and nutmeg powder. Mix them well and let it cool down for some time on a greasy butter paper. Then cut into pieces and serve.
