Residents of Supertech Capetown, a residential society in Sector 74, Noida, have been frequently complaining of malfunctioning lifts.

According to them, neither do the lifts function properly, nor do the alarms. To top it all, there’s no emergency contact number mentioned anywhere inside the lift.

In fact, an incident that took place a few days ago underscores the plight of the residents.

Kishore Kumar lives on the 19th floor of Tower CV-I. One day, while he was going to the maintenance office to pay the electricity bill, he got trapped inside the lift for nearly 30 minutes. Recounting his harrowing experience, he said, “I was alone in the lift when the lights went out, and it stopped between the ground floor and the first. As it often happens, there was no mobile signal inside the lift. Fortunately, after some time, I managed to send a message to my neighbour Praveena Joshi, who came with a maintenance team to get me out."

When City Spidey took up the matter with the maintenance manager, Raj Kumar, he said he wasn’t aware of any such incident.

On the contrary, he claimed, "Emergency contact numbers are available on the notice boards of every tower. The alarms, too, are in perfect working condition."
