A poetic break from routine

The kavi sammelan (poetry meet) is a regular feature on the last Saturday of every month where poets and writers of NCR can showcase their talent.

A poetic break from routine

A kavi sammelan (poetry meet) at the yoga centre near Noida Stadium was a big draw on February 27. The response to the event, in fact, went beyond the expectations of its organisors, Nayi Pahal, a cultural forum.

Saturday's Sammelan, sixth in the series, showcased the poetic genius of young talent in the National Capital Territory (NCR). Recitation of their compositions by upcoming poets, Nitish Rajput, Durgesh Avasthi, and Dibakar Pandey among others, held the audience spellbound.

The poetry meet, which offers a welcome break from hustle and bustle of the city life, is a regular feature on the last Saturday of every month. This month's meet was dedicated to Vasant Ritu (spring season) and freedom fighter Chandrasekhar Azad.

Madan Chauhan, a minister in UP Cabinet, and Atul Sinha, a known face in Hindi poetic circles, were the chief guests at the February 27 event. Presence of renowned Hindi poet Mahesh Saxena added to its attraction.

Vinod Sharma, a host of the event, informed City Spidey that the event is open for all.

"We welcome poets and writers from across the NCR to showcase their talent at the events," he added.
