Dwarka: Radhika Apts celebrates Uttarayani Residents all decked up for Uttarayani, the traditional festival of Uttarakhand celebrated on Makar Sankranti

On Saturday, January 14, residents of Radhika Apartments in Sector 14, Dwarka, came together to celebrate Uttarayani, organised by Uttarakhand Sanskritik Manch. Residents dressed in Uttarakhand's traditional attire were seen dancing to folk tunes and making merry. Traditional folk songs and dances such as bangar, jhora, barda nati and chhapeli were performed on the occasion, with children chipping in with some rather impressive dance routines.

Eminent personalities from Uttarakhand were also present at the occasion. They lauded the community's efforts to showcase the culture and traditions of Uttarakhand and said events such as this helped the younger generation keep in touch with its roots. President of Uttarakhand Sanskritik Manch, SS Chowhan, said, "Our sole intention behind the event was familiarising people and children with the rich culture of Uttarakhand. Residents from sectors 13, 14, 16 and 17 also played an important role in making the event a success."

Satish Nautiyal, ACP Delhi Police, Vinod Dhuondiyal, senior journalist and president of Dwarka Forum, Madhuri Varshney, attended the function as special guests. "I was transported to my native town in Uttarakhand," said Varshney. "It was a great effort by Uttarakhand Sanskritik Manch and I thoroughly enjoyed all the acts."
