Noida, Sec 119: Keep a tight grip on your bags

Despite PCR vans patrolling the area frequently, incidents of snatching and car thefts have risen significantly in the past few days, particularly outside Gaur Grandeur.

Noida, Sec 119: Keep a tight grip on your bags

Residents of Gaur Grandeur, an upscale society in Sector 119, Noida, are a worried lot, as incidents of snatching have risen significantly in the area over the past few days. This despite strong police patrol outside the society.

On January 15, two unidentified bike-borne miscreants snatched the bag of a female resident, who also works with a reputed news channel. The incident occurred outside the entrance of Amrapali Platinum, another upscale society hardly 300 m away from Gaur Grandeur.

A similar incident had taken place in the early evening hours of December 12. Again, two bike-borne individuals escaped with the bag of another female resident of Gaur Grandeur, right outside the society gate in the presence of private security guards. Though the guards gave chase, the miscreants managed to escape.

Praveen Khurana, AOA president of Gaur Grandeur, added that cases of car theft had also been reported in the recent past. Three cars parked outside the society boundary wall had recently been stolen. He added that though FIRs had been lodged with the Phase III police station in Sector 71, the stolen cars and bags were yet to be recovered.

Surprisingly, despite frequent police patrol in the areas, snatching incidents continue to happen.

The society, too, has tightened security outsides its entrance.

Ummed Kumar, SO, Noida Phase II police station, has ruled out the operation of any gang in the area, adding that patrolling has been increased in view of the situation.

He confirmed to City Spidey that the police was looking for the criminals, but were still clueless about their identity.
