The Delhi police, East District, has sought the cooperation of citizens to strengthen security in residential areas ahead of Republic Day.

A joint meeting was conducted recently at the office of ACP, Madhu Vihar, in IP Extension, where representatives of RWAs and members of group housing societies, market associations and other social and religious associations were also present.

Veer Singh, ACP, Madhu Vihar (Patparganj), told City Spidey that more than 50 representatives of societies from East Delhi were present at the meeting. “The police have asked residents to be vigilant and keep an eye on the society and neighbouring areas for suspicious activity, and to inform the police immediately if they spot something," Singh said. "They have also requested residents to ensure their CCTV cameras are functional. The representatives of the religious and social unions have been strictly asked to maintain peace in their areas. SHOs of each police station are conducting meetings with RWAs in their respective zones.”

RP Ahuja, a member of Federation of RWA, Patparganj, who was present at the meeting, told City Spidey that the RWAs had been asked to make sure security guards were alert on duty at the society gates.

On January 20, Central Industrial Security Force’s (CISF) jawans were seen deployed at various locations in Mayur Vihar Phase I and Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension. A CISF jawan deployed at Hindustan Times Apartments near Mayur Vihar Phase I Metro station, said, “We will be on duty here till January 26.”
