Indirapuram’s Krishna Apra Gardens is all set to get a makeover, with major development and repair work getting a green signal from the society AOA last week.

Planning had been on for the past eight to ten months. The society has not seen any major makeover since the maintenance of the society was handed over in 2010.

The development work includes seepage repairs, painting of the entire society and upgrading the firefighting system. Repairs will also be carried out on the society’s rainwater harvesting system.

Speaking to City Spidey, Mohit Dwivedi, AOA president, said the entire development work would cost about Rs 2 crore. "We are investing around Rs 1.46 crore for society painting alone. Choked drains and moisture in the soil have caused water to seep into the buildings. The repair work is, you can say, a stitch in time," he explained.

Other renovations are under way too.

Driveways are being redone with concrete blocks, electric panels are being repaired, IGL gas pipelines are being installed for the clubhouse, and all society drains are being cleaned. The boundary wall is also being repaired.

Dwivedi added, “In the past few months, we have increased the number of CCTV cameras from 80 to 130. Unlike other AOAs, which forbid children to play in the society, we have fenced off an area for the kids so they do not come in the way of other residents.”

The AOA also plans to have energy-efficient LED lights in the common areas of the society.

The entire cost is being borne by residents. "Apart from maintenance charges, residents of all 728 flats will have to bear around Rs 20,000-22,000 more for the facelift,” Dwivedi added.
