Noida residents demand maintenance of DND Flyway

In missives to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Keriwal and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, FONRWA has asked for both Noida Authority and DDA to shoulder the responsibility of maintaining the DND Flyway.

After the Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBPL) stopped all maintenance work on the DND Flyway after the High Court order scrapping toll collection from commuters, Noida residents appealed to both Delhi and UP governments to table a proposal for its upkeep.

On January 21, the Federation of Noida RWAs (FONRWA) wrote to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Keriwal and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav about the issue. It asked both the chief ministers to pass orders to Noida Authority and Delhi Development Authority or the Public Works Department to take up maintenance of the flyway.

The letters mentioned that the federation had to fight a legal battle against the NTBPL to stop toll collection from commuters on DND flyway. But the NTBCL stopped all maintenance work on the flyway as well.

AN Dhawan, FONRWA secretary general, said, “Thousands of commuters from both Noida and Delhi take the DND Flyway every day. So it’s necessary to keep it in good condition. It’s a short cut for commuters heading towards South Delhi and vice-versa. It allows them to avoid taking the other longer routes, such as the Akshardham temple road. Both the governments should give its maintenance priority.”

The flyway falls under the purview of both UP and Delhi governments, the federation said. “Both Noida Authority and Public Works Department of Delhi should be asked to give a proposal on the flyway’s maintenance, as both are responsible,” added NP Singh, FONRWA president.
