East Delhi: IP Extension’s Federation of CGHS organises dan mahotsav A performance at IPEX Bhavan on January 22

The Federation of Cooperative Group Housing Societies (FCGHS) in IP Extension organised an event called Manav Seva at IPEX Bhavan on January 22, in which clothes and items of daily use were distributed among the poor as part of the dan mahotsav (donation festival).

The event was organised in collaboration with Indraprastha Agrawal Samaj, an association of the Agrawal community. On Makar Sankranti (January 14), Suresh Bindal, president of the federation, appealed to residents of all group housing societies to give out clothes or cash or anything they wanted to contribute for the dan mahotsav.

A group of five women approached NGOs and other associations and chose differently abled and pverty-stricken girls and women from slums and ashrams to donate to. More than 200 people received donations during the event.

Bindal said, “Every year we organise a dan mahotsav to help the underprivileged. This year we wanted to address their basic needs. A group of women went to NGOs and other associations working for the poor to identify these needs.”

A cultural programme was also part of the event, in which a group of visually impaired boys performed a song and a group of girls a dance. Many residents, including the elderly, attended the programme.

Omveer Singh, ACP (East), was the chief guest at the event. "Working for the poor is a great thought and I appreciate the federation more for the job. I am proud to be part of such a programme, in which the underprivileged are facilitated," said Singh.
