It was a night in Dwarka that celebrated womanhood as several civil society groups organised the ‘I Will Go Out’ event at Maxfort School on January 21. Residents from across Delhi flocked to the venue to show solidarity with the cause of women’s safety and condemn violence against women.
Dance performance, poetry, qawwali, rock music, stand-up comedy and rap songs were performed by artists from across Delhi. According to organisers, it was the first time so many diverse organisations had come together for a joint programme on a subject related to women.
Jagmati Sangwan, an eminent activist, and Swati Maliwal, chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), were also present at the event. They addressed the gathering and praised the efforts of the residents in organising the event.
