The event, organised by Poorvanchal Ekta Manch at Dada Dev Mela ground, also provided a platform to propagate the inclusion Bhojpuri in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution.

Two-day Bhojpuri culture fest in Dwarka 9th Vishwa Bhojpuri Sammelan under way at Dada Dev Mela ground

The two-day 9th Vishwa Bhojpuri Sammelan, starting from January 28, was organised by Poorvanchal Ekta Manch at Dada Dev Mela ground in Dwarka.

The event was inaugurated by the former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. Other dignitaries present on the occasion included MP from Buxar, Ashwini Choubey; MP Manoj Tiwari, president of Delhi BJP; former MP of Dwarka, Mahabal Mishra; and Mauritius ambassador, Jagdish Govardhan.

According to the organisers, the event also provided a platform to propagate the inclusion Bhojpuri in the Eight Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Both Kumar and Choubey spoke in favour of inclusion.

Shivji Singh, president of Poorvanchal Ekta Manch, and a resident of Sector 6, said, “Bhojpuri language is part of our culture and identity. We want it to be included in the Eight Schedule of the Constitution. About 25 crore people speak this language, and it must be given due its recognition.”
