The body of a 16-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in the M-block park of Jalvayu Vihar in Sector 25, Noida, on the morning of January 29.

Shreya Singh, a resident, told City Spidey that she heard some commotion in the park outside and asked her maid about it. "She told me that some residents who were out for jogging had discovered the body and informed the police," said Singh.

Police have identified the girl as Savita Mandal, who stayed in a nearby village with her father, Chander Mandal. They belonged to Malda district of West Bengal.

"She was in love with a boy named Anand and wanted to marry him but her family was against the marriage," said Anil Pratap, SO of Sector 20 police station. "It appears to be a suicide case, but we will find out more after further investigation. We have sent the body for postmortem."

DP Goyal, RWA president of the society, said they were not aware of who the girl was.
