The RWA of DLF Ridgewood Estate, a residential society in DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon, banned the entry of pets in the society’s parks on February 4.

As a result pet owners have to take their pets outside the society for a walk. They are upset with the RWA’s decision, and feel that it is unfair and needs to be reviewed.

The society has 12 parks and pet owners are demanding a separate park for their pets. The RWA has, however, already rejected their demand. But residents want that their demand to be reviewed in a discussion.

Rajesh Raheja, a resident who has a pet, says, “The decision of the RWA is one-sided. They didn’t discuss with us before taking such a harsh decision. It’s very difficult for senior citizens to take their pets for a walk outside the society. They have to give one park for pets.”

“The RWA is not listening to our problem. They simply put up the ‘No pets allowed’ notice. My father’s age is 80 years and he takes our pet for morning walk. It’s much easier to take pets for walks in the society. Outside, it’s very difficult. If they don’t accept our demands, we’ll approach the court,” says Gurmeet Kaur, another resident.

Sanjay Singh, another resident, says, “We are living in a democratic country and the RWA is behaving like a dictator. They can’t impose their decision on us.”

Sanjay Batra, RWA president, told City Spidey, “There is no question of reviewing the decision. Some pets may pose threat to kids. They have to take their pets outside the society for a walk. If anyone has a problem, they can approach the court.”
