Gaur Grandeur’s block H wins society’s cricket tournament

Residents of block H of Gaur Grandeur, a residential society in Sector 119, Noida, won the society’s inter-residential blocks tournament held at a vacant plot near the society. The team defeated block I team in the finals on February 5 to win the Antriksh India Cup.

The block H team won the toss and chose to bowl. Ram Gupta and Rishabh Tandon were the highest scorers for block I with 24 and 16 runs respectively. The block I team set a target of 99 runs for block H team to win the tournament. There were only 15 overs in the match.  

From block H, Shashank Shekhar scored 28 runs in 19 balls while Rakesh Koul scored 21 runs in 12 balls. The team won the match in the last over.

Shekhar told City Spidey, “The motive of the tournament is to develop team spirit and bring out the hidden talents in our society. It’s also a way to relax and get away from our busy lives.”

Seven teams, one from each residential block of the society, participated in the tournament. However, one of the teams comprised of players from blocks B, C, D and J. About 90 residents participated in the two-day tournament, which began on February 4.

The Antriksh India Cup is an annual tournament that was first held in 2015.
