The RWA of DLF Ridgewood Estate, a residential society in DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon, has softened its stand on the ban on pets inside society parks. It has agreed to designate a park for pets on the condition that pet owners clean the litter.

Deepak Mathur, secretary of the RWA, told City Spidey, “Residents have to accept our conditions. We gave a park to pet owners earlier too. But they did not clean the litter of their pets and ignored our advice. They should treat pets as their kids. They give excuses most of the time, such as their parents are too old to clean.”

“If they want to walk their pets in the parks, they should accept our terms. Otherwise we will have to change our stand. Children also play in these parks. Litter in parks is harmful for their health. Now we can’t restrict their entry,” added Mathur.

However, residents gave mixed reactions to the RWA’s condition. Sanjay Jha, a disapproving resident, said, “I am not happy with these terms. They are very harsh. My father takes our pet for walks. He is too old and can’t clean the litter. The RWA should think about us.”

“The RWA is ready to give a park for pets but pet owners have to accept the terms. The RWA is right. What more can it do?  If they did not review their earlier decision, then they would have been wrong,” said Anand Singla, another resident.
