A free medical check-up camp was organised for construction workers by Pahal, a social organisation, with support from the doctors of Indian Medical Association (Dwarka) and Centre For Sight. The camp was organised at the construction site of Punjab National Bank in Sector 10, Dwarka, on February 6.

Medicines were also given to the workers and their families. Many residents of the sub-city were present at the camp. Volunteers from Pahal assisted doctors in their work.

Malay Chakroborty, founding president of Pahal and a resident of Sector 22, said, “We often engage in such activities for the community, and especially for the underprivileged. We had organised a clothes donation camp earlier in the area and realised that construction workers should be given medical support. We will organise more such camps in future.”

Labourers were also made aware about health and hygiene, and the female members of their household about government facilities for pregnant women.

“Awareness is the key to staying healthy. We want people to understand the importance of good health. Organising such camps gives us so much satisfaction. Residents from various societies were also enthusiastic about this initiative and supported it wholeheartedly,” said IM Khanna, vice-president of Pahal and a resident of New Jai Bharat Apartments, Sector 4.
