The frequency of Metro trains on Blue Line was affected on February 7 due to a technical fault. The Blue Line Metro runs from Sector 21, Dwarka, to Noida and Vaisahli.

According to the DMRC office, train services on Line 3 and Line 4 faced minor delays from 10 am to 12 noon due to Track Circuit Drop, a signalling problem, near the entry signal of Dwarka station on Up Line (trains coming from Noida and Vaishali). As a result, trains had to move at restricted speeds of 20-25 kmph on the affected stretch. At 11.50 am, a 10-minute maintenance time block was granted to rectify the fault. During that time, trains were regulated.

The DMRC office said that the Dwarka station is also used for reversal of trains. To avoid any major impact on services, trains were reversed from Dwarka Sector 12 Metro station instead of Dwarka Metro station. A few trains were also short-looped from Rajouri Garden and Janakpuri West Metro stations towards Noida and Vaishali, thus providing regular service with slight decrease in the frequency of the trains during the period. The track circuit problem was rectified at 12 noon and the services were restored on Line 3 and Line 4.

Meanwhile, Dwarka residents faced difficulty in reaching their offices. MK Sharma, a regular commuter from Dwarka to Rajendra Place, said, “The service was disturbed today. I was late to work by half an hour.”

Sanjeev Malik, a resident of Sector 12, said, “We often face such problems in this line. Why this happens only in the Blue Line should be investigated. It’s a serious issue and the DMRC should look into it.”

When City Spidey spoke to several regular commuters, it learned that the Blue Line service was affected for almost a week. Mansukh Sharma, a resident of Sector 14, said, “The service has been affected for the last three to four days. It causes confusion every day about the time it would take to complete the journey. I found it difficult to reach office on time. Whatever may be the cause of delays, commuters have been affected badly.”
