Repair work on a road passing through blocks A and D of Sector 26, Noida, has been stopped for the past 10 days. The road had been dug up by Noida Authority for laying a new sewer line.
The Authority filled up the potholes with soil, which only led to dust pollution and aggravated breathing problems among residents, particularly those with asthma.
Residents of Block A complained that work on the new sewer line started in August last year and ended in December, but the road never got repaired.
Shweta Singh, a resident of Sector 26, said, "Children of Block A are not being able to cycle on the roads — it’s difficult for us to even walk on it!”
Manoj Kesari, RWA treasurer of the sector, told City Spidey, “We spoke several times to the officials of Noida Authority to finish the repairs on the roads, but no good has come of it.”
RK Goel, project engineer of Noida Authority, however, said work on the road has been stopped only temporarily and that the stretch would be repaired by the end of March.
