Gurgaon: Sushant Lok I residents protest against builder and administration

Hundreds of Sushant Lok I residents took to the streets against the developer and administration for neglecting regular maintenance despite collecting regular maintenance charges from them.

All residents congregated at the Sushant Lok I police station and discussed their problems with Joint Commissioner, MCG, YS Gupta who promised to look into the matter. “Some of us will meet a senior cabinet minister of Haryana in the coming week," said Neelu Sharma, a resident. "We want roads to be repaired and streetlights repaired on priority. Our roads are lying damaged since the past five years. If our demands are not met, we will stage another protest on February 18 at 9.30am. And next time, there will be way more people."

Residents protested from 9.30 am to 12 pm  and threatened the civil body that if their problems were not solved soon, they would go on a hunger strike and will not participate in the upcoming MCG elections.

Residents had already filed a complaint at the CM window three months ago. Two months after the complaint, however, without any progress on ground, they received a reply saying their problems had been resolved.

“We just want Sushant Lok to be taken up by MCG," said Shalini Bhatia, an annoyed resident. "They have assured us that, but they are not treating it as priority." Right now, neither the builder nor MCG is taking care of the society."

"We have been neglected by both the builder and MCG," said Vidya Srinivasan, another disgruntled resident.

The MCG officials assured residents that their issues will be resolved as soon as the area was handed over to MCG. "We will start the road repairs once the formalities are over," said BK Kardam, executive engineer, MCG.

The police was present at the spot to ensure the peace protest did not take an ugly turn.
