Nasha to break the Indirapuram stereotype

Once notorious for its issues with safety and security and an unruly crowd, the township is fast transforming into one of most event-friendly places.

Akhil Sachdeva has always followed his heart. And his heart has always directed him to the paths less trodden, to blaze trails.

After completing his graduation in Economics Honours from Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, he decided against a nerdy job to follow his passion and become a musician. The lead vocalist of one of the pioneers of Sufi Rock in the country, his band, Nasha, Sachdeva still continues to follow his heart - which is why he is all set to perform in Indirapuram, in what perhaps is the area's first music show of such stature.

"I have always been a risk taker," said Sachdeva. "I had no formal training when I decided to become a musician. And yet, it did not deter me from walking down this road. This time when an event management company approached me to perform at Indirapuram Habitat Centre, live with my band, I agreed immediately. Although Indirapuram does not have a live-act scene, I wanted to debunk this myth that location is key to one's success. I believe what matters is connecting with the audience. If one can do that, the show is bound to be a hit. I like the spontaneity that a new audience brings, it makes you think on your feet."

Yudhvir Singh, General Manager Indirapuram Habitat Centre, said, “Indirapuram is undergoing an overhaul. The presence of a young, affluent crowd is making Indirapuram one of the preferred places for event organisers, live gigs and festivals.”

"Earlier, Indirapuram was notorious for its issues with safety and security and an unruly crowd," said Sachdeva. "But things have changed. Artistes, event planners and people  have matured with time. Nasha relies on the energy felt from an audience. We love pinging good vibes off the crowd. Now that the scanario here has changed for the better, these venues will be much safer than those in Delhi."

"One does not have to depend on Noida and Delhi to have a good time anymore," said Singh. "That's our message to residents of Indirapuram. We had renowned DJ Akanksha Popli performing on February 11 and we have Nasha lined up to enthral the crowd on February 12. We will keep coming up with new ideas like these to transform the scene in Indirapuram."
