"I took the first flight to Delhi from Bhopal, hired a car and drove down to Indirapuram to make it up to my girlfriend," said Shashank Varshney, who quit his job and came down to the capital to win his girlfriend back. "She is mad at me and I have to get her to calm down. Today's Valentine's Day and I will sweep her off her feet and win her back. If only this traffic jam clears up."

Well, best of luck, dude.

Let's hope his girlfriend isn't friends with Anjali Kriplani, a resident of Vasundhara Sector 4, who thinks Valentine's Day is just like any other day. "For a person in love, every day is V-Day," she said.

But Valentine's Day does mean something different to everyone.

For someone such as 26-year-old Komudi Katyal, whose first love is food, Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to chow down on V-Day special delicacies all day long.

Megha Chhabra, who was rushing to a business meeting in Noida, said work had taken over her life. “You know what's tragic?" said Chhabra. "The gift in my hand was meant for a client I was meeting later today.”

Talking of gifts, there are some such as Alka Jain, a resident of Shipra Sun City, who believe in making her loved one feel super-special. "I gifted my boyfriend a six-month gym package so he could work out with me," said Jain. "I'm waiting for him to surprise me. I love Valentine's Day!"

Guess who else loves February 14?

Florists. They see a surge in sales on February 14 every year, with the price of red roses going through the roof. "After the wedding season, V-Day is the most profitable day of the year. We normally earn about Rs 15,000 on the day," said Rupak Sanyal, a flower vendor who sits next to Aditya Mega Mall in Indirapuram.
