The RWA of Malibu Town, a township in Sector 47, Gurgaon, in collaboration with Mount Olympus School, is set to organise a “Walk For Fun” event in the sector on February 19.

The walkathon, in which residents and students can participate, will begin at 6 am from the school and cover Arcadia, South City and Malibu Town. It will end at the school at 10 am. According to the organisers, the walkathon is being held to spread awareness about the ill effects of pollution, a lack of exercise and a fast-paced lifestyle. The walks will be conducted on other weekends too, depending upon the response to the initiative.

Monika Khanna, head of admissions and business development, Mount Olympus School, said, “The walkathon will be flagged off by Arjuna Award winner Akhilesh Kumar and Mamta Kharab, ACP [Traffic], Gurgaon. We believe that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with a healthy person. Such events also allow one to spend quality time with family members, and promote happiness and overall wellbeing.”

“We support the school whole-heartedly. Our children will also present a nukkad natak, or a street play, on the theme of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao',” said Alka Dalal, former president of the Malibu Town RWA.
