In an effort to promote greenery in Noida, members of Sankalp India Charitable Trust, a foundation which works towards saving the environment, and residents of Sector 55 planted saplings at a park in Block A of the sector on March 2. The park is known as herbal park of the sector.

Saplings of neem, mango, and orange were planted during the drive. Members of Sankalp India Charitable Trust told City Spidey that the environment in Noida was too polluted and so planting saplings would help ensure that residents have fresh air to breathe.

Rekha Sharma, president of the foundation, said, “We’ve made an effort to increase greenery in our surroundings. We not only planted saplings but also tried to make children aware about the importance of plants and trees.”

Kusum Joshi, a resident of the sector, said that it was her first experience of planting a sapling. “It is a good way to curb pollution in the area. I also took a pledge to plant more saplings in the sector,” she added.
