Noida to soon have bike taxis

Noida will soon have a new mode of transport — bike taxis. The bike taxi service will be launched a week from now.

In its first phase, 20 bike taxis will be launched in the city, the service being available at all six Metro stations in Noida. Commuters can book a ride through a mobile app.

"We will be launching our service between March 11 and March 15," said Saif Khan, operations head of Baxi, the service provider. "We have plans to increase the number of bike taxis to 150 in the next six months. The base fare has been fixed at Rs 15, to which Rs 4 per km and Re 1 per minute will be added."

In December 2015, Gurgaon became the first city in the NCR to have a bike-taxi service. Currently, there are five bike-taxi services running in Gurgaon, including one that caters exclusively to women.
