Parents retaliate against CBSE diktat

Hard to believe, but a new guideline issued by the CBSE makes it mandatory for parents to accompany their children in school buses, putting the entire onus of student safety on parents.

Parents retaliate against CBSE diktat

Parents in Gurgaon are vehemently opposing the new CBSE guidelines, which make it mandatory for parents to accompany their children in a schoolbus.

Many parents feel schools are charging hefty fees and therefore, the authorities should bear the responsibility for the students’ safety. Parents have demanded an immediate review of the guideline.

Here’s how parents are reacting.

Neeraj Gogia, whose son studies in DAV Public School in Sector 5, said, “The board should review the new guidelines. Why should parents suffer? It’s not possible for me to accompany my son every day.”

Deepak Gulati, whose daughter studies in Blue Bells Public School, Sector 10, added, “Schools have to take responsibility! They are charging hefty amounts from us for transport. The CBSE can’t impose such a whimsical decision on us.”

Lata Aggarwal, whose son is in KR Mangalam School, complained, “I am a working woman — it’s not possible for me to accompany my son to school every day. This is ridiculous.”
