Noida, Sec 51: Face-off between Noida Authority and RWA

Noida Authority has served a notice to the RWA president, asking him to have the disputed locked gate opened within a week, failing which the Authority will be forced to dismantle it.

Noida, Sec 51: Face-off between Noida Authority and RWA

Noida Authority recently served a notice to Anil Kumar Ranotra, RWA president of Sector 51, for flouting the rules laid down for the passage of vehicles and commuters through gated roads within sectors.

This RWA caters to blocks C, D, E and F of Sector 51.

According to an officer with the Authority, residents aren’t permitted to lock down gates within sectors — they must be kept open for ease of passage. But the RWA did just the opposite.

The Authority maintains that such a step has caused a great deal of inconvenience to residents — and has also led to a dispute between them.

The disputed gate, which is behind Manav Rachna International School in Block D, opens towards the Link Road in Noida. The Authority warned the RWA to comply with the rules within a week, failing which the gate would be dismantled.

The RWA reacted sharply to the notice.

Sanjeev Kumar, RWA secretary, alleged that the officer was acting under pressure. He added, “The RWA has been continuously in touch with the residents of the sector. They have never raised any objections about the closed gate in the past. The gate in question has been kept locked for resident safety.”

He further alleged, “The Authority is obviously working for the benefit of a third party, which is keen to have the gates opened. Two gates of Manav Rachna International School open towards the 12-m-wide road in Block D. These gates were constructed illegally by the school. But the Authority has not acted against the school management, despite repeated complaints to the top brass."
