A major fire incident near Shipra Sun City, Indirapuram, was averted on March 5 afternoon by the chance presence of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) fire fighting units at the site.
The open plot where the fire broke out had garbage from the nearby residential and commercial areas. According to a CISF fireman, the waste must have been set on fire and the flames quickly spread due to strong winds. The dry vegetation in the area further stoked the flames. Within minutes, the entire area was covered in smoke.
Thankfully, the fire was brought under control by CISF firemen and fire tenders stationed at the CISF camp, just across the road. They were practicing for a demonstration for March 10, celebrated as the Raising Day every year.
Speaking to City Spidey, a CISF fireman said, “On a normal day, the camp wouldn’t have a fire tender on standby. But fortunately, five fire tenders were present at the time of the incident —though another one was required to douse the fast-spreading flames.”
The fire tenders were alerted by CISF personnel posted in the area at around 2 pm. “It took around 20 minutes of prompt action to bring the flames under control. The fire tenders belonged to various other industrial fire tending units of the CISF, which were brought down to the camp for March 10 practice,” said a CISF fireman.
Locals informed the fire station at Vaishali. AR Sharma, fire Station master of Vaishali Station, said, “The CISF personnel played a major role in dousing the fire in time. But people must be especially careful during this season — when the conditions are dry and windy.”
