MCG extends property tax deadline till March 31

The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has extended the deadline for paying property tax till 31 March. To encourage residents to pay the tax, MCG has exempted basements that come under a society's common area and are exclusively used for parking.

According to MCG Commissioner V Uma Shankar, officials of all the four zones have been directed to circulate the notification to all societies with common basement parking. “Apart from extending the deadline, we have also introduced a rebate of 25 per cent. Residents can avail an additional 1 per cent rebate by paying through online modes."

Residents have lauded MCG's move. “The exemption of common basement parking is a good step by authorities," said Kushal Malhotra, a resident. "Now will not have to pay tax for the parking area. Every year, we shell out a fortune for maintenance of the parking area to pay the builder. This step might stop builders from taking those charges.”
