Look closely. Can you see Noida in this painting?

Noida emerges, and how! That's the message artist Angelika Thamam, a Sector 40 resident, conveys through this canvas.

Look closely. Can you see Noida in this painting?

Okay, people, here is a painting by a Noida based artist on, yes, Noida. Angelika Thamam, that's the name of the artist, also a trained interior designer. The title of this 30" x 30" canvas in mixed medium? Rise Above.

Look at the canvas closely. Can you see Noida in there? Well, I for the life of me, can't. My apologies to the artist. But then the artist, who moved from Delhi to Noida 15 years back, explains: "The painting depicts how Noida has established an identity of its own over the years - the dual pendulums on the painting representing time. Thanks to human resources Noida is moving ahead. Yet the NCR city has retained its quiet and calm aura and is still very close to nature."

The artist, a resident of Sector 40, adds: "At one point of time, Noida was referred to as Trans Yamuna. But over the years it has emerged from the earth (bottom left corner of the painting) to become a virtual subcontinent with an unique identity - represented so aptly by the head on the canvas."

"I paint what I love from my observation. Happy things, you know, and want to spread the joy around with my brush," she says. Of course, this painting is just another effort at spreading the message of joy de vivre that she finds in Noida.
