A week after the registrar office of Delhi government constituted a six-member review panel to amend existing rules that regulate cooperative societies, the panel held its first meeting at Delhi Secretariat on March 10.

Suresh Bindal, a member of the panel and president of Federation of IP Extension Cooperative Group Housing Societies, told City Spidey that the members submitted their proposals before the Registrar of Cooperative Society.

“The next meeting will be held after the government receives opinions from individual cooperative group housing societies and the federations in the city. We were told that the registrar office will send a notice to the managing committees of cooperative societies seeking views on various issues. Thereafter, a wide-ranging discussion will be held,” Bindal said.

The panel was formed following a series of requests from several cooperative societies to bring some amendments in the rules under which such societies function.

It consists of three members from cooperative societies and three members from the registrar office. The panel has been entrusted with the responsibility to hold discussions with cooperative societies and submit a report to the government in 90 days.
