One sweet that has been traditionally associated with Holi is the gujiya and the festival feels incomplete without it. Enjoyed by millions across NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and other parts of northern India, it is basically khoya and dry fruits stuffed together.

With Holi round the corner, many residents of the NCR are soaked in festive fervour and are flocking to the nearest sweet shop to buy gujiyas. It seems the zest to prepare gujiyas at home has decreased nowadays.

We spoke to a few Noida residents to find out why they preferred buying the sweet instead of making them.

Rakhi Gupta, a resident of Sector 27, Noida, says, “My husband and me are working professionals. We do not have enough time on our hands to make gujiyas at home. Making gujiyas is a time-taking process. We prefer buying them instead.”

“Most women these days do not know how to make gujiyas. It’s easier for them to purchase it in the market. However, making gujiyas at home with family members is a special feeling. It’s a chance for men and women in a family to prepare together for festivals,” says Suman Arora, a resident of Supertech Capetown, Sector 74.
