Public health dept plans to come down heavily on illegal water connections

Public health department has decided to take strict action against those who tamper with water pipelines. The department has decided to set up a police station in Sushant Lok, which will look into cases of water theft and wastage. Officials deployed at the police station will lodge FIRs against those alleged under such cases and impose fines on them. The department sent a proposal to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for approval.

Manpal Singh, engineer-in-chief of the public health department, said, “There are several water pipelines where people have attached pipes of their own and directed it to their place. As a result, there is an acute water shortage in places where the water was supposed to be delivered. The illegal connections also cause a lot of leakage, as the main pipeline is punctured in several locations. The additional chief secretary has approved our proposal and we are waiting for CM's approval for going ahead with our plan.
